Recording Studio Coaching
A studio coaching session at Schraubfabrik helps musicians and producers improve their skills with recording and production tools, develop recording and production strategies, and create successful music productions.

We are happy to share our knowledge of audio production. There are no secrets. Knowing what to do and being able to do it are different things: everyone needs to train their ears and develop their production skills. Jan is happy to help as your trainer.
Jan has composed and produced music with Steinberg Cubase for over 20 years.
He began by making beats for his band The Fatal Impact, in which he played guitar. The band wanted the sound of The Sisters of Mercy, with pounding electronic beats and heavy guitars. Using Cubase 1.0, which still fitted on a ½-inch floppy disk, he programmed external sound generators such as the Korg M1 and BOSS Dr. Rhythm, then performed the songs live with guitars and other instruments.
After seven years and three LPs, the band split up. Jan built a small home studio where he composed non-commercial music in many styles, always with Cubase by his side.
Today, alongside his work as a producer and studio owner at Musikpark Mannheim, Jan runs the Steinberg Training Center.

Born in Heilbronn in 1983.
Studied jazz vocals at the RIMON School of Contemporary Music in Tel Aviv and the International Music College in Freiburg.
An experienced vocal, band and songwriting coach, including guest teaching for the Popakademie Mannheim Bandpool programme and Heidelberg’s municipal music school.
A singer and songwriter in various bands and projects, with international stage and studio experience.
A published songwriter with Sony Music Publishing, awarded gold certification and a winner of the John Lennon Talent Award.

Vocal coach: Simone Kesternich
Effective vocal coaching helps your voice and studio performance flow as naturally when it matters as they do during practice, rehearsals, lessons or live shows. Simone Kesternich creates an individual, holistic approach for each participant.
Her coaching places particular emphasis on vocal health and authenticity.

STEINBERG TRAINING CENTER
Our workshops use the participants’ own music. We either compose a piece together or work on a finished or unfinished song, aiming to complete its production in Cubase for release as a demo or similar.
We believe this gives participants the greatest benefit from a Cubase workshop. The aim is to finish at least one song on CD with sound quality that meets at least semi-professional standards.
Lessons usually take place in two blocks, allowing you to apply what you have learnt to your song between sessions. In the second block, you complete the song together with Jan.
